Mondrian condo purchasers have been doing their pre-move inspections over the past week and settling into the building, with Shoppers Drug Mart across the street relocating to the ground floor in September.
I have to say that I'm genuinely excited about the completion of Urban Capital's latest Ottawa condo at the corner of Bank St and Laurier Ave West, easily the most "downtown" condo building the city has seen so far. As we all know, downtown Ottawa has a well-deserved reputation for rolling up its sidewalks after 6pm, so I look forward to seeing the effect of an influx of 200 plus residents at the city's core intersection.

These new urbanites should be a further boon to local businesses along the Bank St artery who have been suffering over the past year thanks to never ending construction. Hopefully The Mondrian's new residents will take a moment to check out some of the really great haunts within steps of their front door, Cafe Paradiso, Ichibei, The Cookware Centre, The Turning Point, Henry's and the Comic Book Shoppe to name just a few.
Also cool for Mondrian owners is membership in "Urbaina", a new VIP for Urban Capital condo purchasers (ie. The Mondrian and The East Market Lofts in Ottawa) offering worthwhile discounts with various businesses including Arc Hotel, EQ3, Van Leeuwen, Cafe Paradiso, Tippet Richardson Movers and quite a few more.
